Little Rootie Tootie is a jaunty jazz tune written by Thelonious Monk. It first appeared in 1953 on Prestige Records as a 10-inch single by Thelonious Monk Trio, b side Monk's Dream. The original recording features Thelonious Monk on piano with Gary Mapp on bass and Art Blakey on drums. The piece has a brisk bop feel and is known for Monk's playful, angular melodies and rhythmic twists. A live version is documented on At Town Hall (1959), and the track has been reissued on later collections such as the Rudy Van Gelder Remaster of The Thelonious Monk Trio (2007).
