The Little Willie Leaps session features Miles Davis on trumpet, Charlie Parker on tenor sax, John Lewis on piano, Nelson Boyd on bass, and Max Roach on drums. The A side, Chasing The Bird, was recorded earlier on May 8, 1947 with Bud Powell on piano. The tune is firmly in the jazz bebop genre and is associated with the late 1940s New York bebop scene.
