L-O-V-E is a jazz-swing tune written by Bert Kaempfert with lyrics by Milt Gabler. It was first recorded as an instrumental by Kaempfert and His Orchestra and released as a single in 1964, later appearing on Kaempfert’s Blue Midnight album. Nat King Cole recorded a vocal version for his 1965 studio album L-O-V-E, with the single issued in September 1964; the album followed in 1965. The arrangement features a trumpet solo by Bobby Bryant and helped the song become a bright mid‑century pop-jazz standard. The tune has been recorded in several languages for international versions, including Japanese, Italian, German, Spanish and French (the French version is titled Je Ne Repartirai Pas). In 2007, Joss Stone released a cover for a Chanel Coco Mademoiselle advertisement, which charted modestly and was later included on the deluxe edition of Introducing Joss Stone. The song has also inspired other international versions and covers, making L-O-V-E a enduring classic.
