Midnight Voyage is a jazz composition written by Joey Calderazzo and famously recorded by Michael Brecker on tenor sax. It first appeared in 1996 on Brecker's album Tales from the Hudson, and it is known for a haunting medium swing groove that lets the melody lead with ample space for improvisation. The tune is often performed as a tenor sax feature and has been arranged for big band by Alan Baylock for Alfred Publishing, with the lead trumpet part reaching up to high C6. Transcriptions and educational material exist, including Carles Margarit’s Michael Brecker Bb transcription of Midnight Voyage. A notable live version was recorded at the Iridium Jazz Club in New York in November 1996, featuring Brecker with Calderazzo, James Genus, and Jeff Watts.
