Minor Mood is a jazz instrumental written by Clifford Brown - it was first recorded on August 28, 1953 during Brown's Memorial Album sessions in New York - and released that year. The track later appeared on the Blue Note Memorial Album, a compilation of Brown's 1953 sessions released in 1956. The tune sits in the hard bop realm - the August 28 session features Gigi Gryce on alto saxophone and flute, John Lewis on piano, Charlie Rouse on tenor sax, Percy Heath on bass, and Art Blakey on drums. In 2001 the Rudy Van Gelder Edition remastered Memorial Album presenting the music from those sessions in full and with alternate takes.
