Moment's Notice is a hard bop jazz standard composed by John Coltrane and first issued on his 1958 Blue Note album Blue Train. It was recorded September 15, 1957 at Rudy Van Gelder's Hackensack studio and released in January 1958. The tune is known for its rapid tempo and unusual quick moving harmonic twists. The original Blue Train lineup features Coltrane on tenor sax, Lee Morgan on trumpet, Curtis Fuller on trombone, Kenny Drew on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and Philly Joe Jones on drums, with Alfred Lion producing and Rudy Van Gelder engineering. Although Coltrane did not record it again after Blue Train, Moment's Notice has become a standard performed by many jazz artists since the 1970s.
