Monk's Dream is a jazz tune written by Thelonious Monk. It is the title track of his 1963 studio album Monk's Dream, released by Columbia Records as his first Columbia date after Riverside. The sessions were recorded in late 1962 at CBS 30th Street Studio in New York, with Thelonious Monk on piano, Charlie Rouse on tenor sax, John Ore on bass, and Frankie Dunlop on drums. The piece, along with other tracks on the album, showcases Monk's distinctive angular melodies and inventive piano style; Monk's Dream, Bye-Ya, and Sweet and Lovely were originally recorded for Prestige about ten years earlier, while Bright Mississippi was the only new composition on the record. The album is considered a landmark in modern jazz and helped cement Monk's enduring influence.
