Moonlight Becomes You is a 1942 popular song with music by Jimmy Van Heusen and lyrics by Johnny Burke. It was written for the Paramount film Road to Morocco and published in 1942 with an arrangement by Vic Schoen. The original recording was by Bobby Sherwood and His Orchestra with Kitty Kallen on vocals (May 5, 1942), and Bing Crosby released the best known version as a 1942 single (recorded June 12, 1942; released November 19, 1942 by Decca). Crosby's version topped the Billboard charts and spent 17 weeks there. The tune has since become a standard, covered by many artists including Chet Baker, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Glenn Miller Orchestra, and Engelbert Humperdinck. It is a big band era pop ballad closely tied to its film origin.
