My Romance is a popular jazz standard composed by Richard Rodgers with lyrics by Lorenz Hart for Billy Rose’s 1935 musical Jumbo. It was introduced on stage by Gloria Grafton and Donald Novis. The lyrics describe a romantic attraction between two people and say the romance does not need a moon in the sky, a blue lagoon, or soft guitars - the connection is enough. Doris Day sang the tune in the 1962 film version of Jumbo. Since then it has been recorded by many artists, including Dave Brubeck, Bill Evans, Johnny Smith, Ben Webster with Hank Jones, Art Blakey with Keith Jarrett, Carly Simon, Chris Botti, and Aaron Tveit, making it a lasting staple of the jazz repertoire.
