Ol' '55 is a folk song by American musician Tom Waits, released in 1973 as the opening track and lead single from his debut album Closing Time. Written by Waits and produced by Jerry Yester, the track was recorded in spring 1972 at Sunset Sound Recorders and United Western Recorders in Hollywood. The title refers to Waits' own car, a 1955 Buick Roadmaster, described by him as his first real luxury. The song runs 3 minutes and 58 seconds and became a minor hit, noted for being more conventional than Waits' later work. It has been widely covered, most famously by the Eagles on their 1974 On the Border album, a version Waits later criticized. The Ol' 55 story continues in popular culture, including use in an All Elite Wrestling tribute video after rights were secured to preserve the tribute.
