On Broadway is a song written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil with Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. It was first recorded by The Cookies in 1962 and released by The Crystals later that year. The best known version is by The Drifters, released in March 1963 on the album Under the Boardwalk, with a rock oriented groove and a bluesy feel, and featuring Phil Spector on the lead guitar. George Benson covered the song on his 1978 album Weekend in L A, turning it into a top ten hit and winning the Grammy for Best R&B Vocal Performance. The song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2013 and has been covered by many artists across genres.
