On the Street Where You Live is a show tune from the 1956 Broadway musical My Fair Lady, with music by Frederick Loewe and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner. It is sung by the character Freddy Eynsford-Hill, originally performed on stage by John Michael King; in the 1964 film version the singing was dubbed by Bill Shirley. The piece belongs to the musical theatre genre. The most popular early recording was Vic Damone’s 1956 single for Columbia, released in April 1956, which reached No 4 on Billboard and No 6 on Cash Box, and later became a UK chart toppers in 1958. Eddie Fisher also had a top twenty US version in 1956. The song has been covered widely and appears on My Fair Lady related albums, including the 1956 Broadway cast recording and the 1964 film soundtrack.
