Parker's Mood is a jazz blues piece originally performed by Charlie Parker in 1948 as an improvised blues recorded in New York City for Savoy Records on September 18, 1948. It is a B-flat blues featuring Parker's lyrical alto sax, with an opening in G minor that moves to C minor and a four‑bar progression that establishes B-flat major through tritone substitutions; the tempo varies across takes from about 65 to 87 BPM. The tune is often described as a bittersweet lament and a slow blues masterpiece. Vocalese lyrics were added later by King Pleasure in 1953 (recorded around 1954) and by Eddie Jefferson, whose version was retitled Bless My Soul in 1962. By 2018 there were more than 90 recordings of Parker's Mood.
