Pedacinhos do Céu is a classic Brazilian choro composed by Waldir Azevedo (with Paulo Vanzolini credited in some sources). It was released in 1951 on the Continental label and later appeared on various Waldir Azevedo collections. The tune was created as a tribute to Azevedo’s daughters, showcasing the arranger’s virtuosic instrumental choro style. A famous early recording used a makeshift echo chamber built by technician Norival Reis, essentially a microphone in a bathroom connected to a speaker, which created the distinctive reverb later mixed into the track; the method even earned playful nods to the Celite brand. A well known live version features Izaias e Seus Chorões, and Pedacinhos do Céu remains a cornerstone of the choro repertoire.
