Pursuance is a John Coltrane composition from his A Love Supreme suite, originally released in 1965. On Suzanne Pittson's 1999 album Resolution: A Remembrance of John Coltrane, the piece is reimagined as a vocal performance with lyrics by Jeff Pittson and Suzanne Pittson. The track runs about 6 minutes and 15 seconds and features Pittson's singing supported by Alex Murzyn on tenor sax, Jeff Pittson on piano, Glenn Richman bass, and Wally Schnalle drums. This concept album, recorded at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley in March 1999 and released by Vineland, blends jazz improvisation with newly written lyrics and poetry to reinterpret Coltrane's spiritual music.
