Rehab is a song by British singer Amy Winehouse from her second studio album Back to Black (2006). Written by Winehouse and produced by Mark Ronson, the track blends contemporary R&B with 1960s soul and jazz influences. Lyrically it tells how Winehouse’s managers pressured her to enter rehab for alcoholism, while she resists with the famous hook they tried to make me go to rehab, but I said no, no, no, which arose during a walk in New York with Ronson. The recording took place in March 2006 at Dap King Studios and Chung King Studios in New York and at Metropolis Studios in London, featuring live drums, horns, strings and a retro Motown-inspired groove. Released as the lead single in the UK on 23 October 2006 and later in North America in 2007, Rehab received widespread critical acclaim and helped establish Winehouse’s global breakthrough, earning multiple awards including three Grammys in 2008, including Song of the Year and Record of the Year.
