Ribbon in the Sky is a ballad by American singer Stevie Wonder, released in 1982 as a single from his greatest-hits collection Stevie Wonder's Original Musiquarium I. The track, recorded in October 1981 at Wonderland Studios in Los Angeles, blends R&B, soul, jazz and smooth soul, and runs 5 minutes 50 seconds with the B-side Black Orchid on the Tamla label. Written and produced by Wonder, it charted in the US at No 54 pop, No 21 Adult Contemporary and No 10 R&B, and reached No 45 in the UK. It earned a Grammy nomination for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance in 1983, was named one of Essence magazine's 25 Best Slow Jams of All Time in 2009, and Wonder performed a version at Whitney Houston's funeral in 2012. The recording features Wonder on vocals, drums, piano and synthesizers with Benjamin Bridges on acoustic guitar.
