Road Song is a 1968 jazz album by guitarist Wes Montgomery, released in October 1968 on A&M and produced by Creed Taylor. The title track, Road Song, is an original Montgomery composition, and the program also includes Greensleeves, Fly Me to the Moon, Yesterday, I’ll Be Back, Scarborough Fair/Canticle, Green Leaves of Summer, Serene, and Where Have All the Flowers Gone. The album was recorded May 7-9, 1968 at Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, and features a large ensemble arranged by Don Sebesky with Herbie Hancock on piano. It reached number 1 on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart, number 39 on the R&B Albums chart, and number 94 on the Billboard 200; it was Montgomery’s final recording before his death on June 15, 1968.
