Robbins Nest, sometimes shown as Robbin's Nest, is a jazz standard co-written by Sir Charles Thompson and Illinois Jacquet. It was first recorded by Illinois Jacquet & His All Stars on May 21, 1947 and released as the B-side to Jacquet Mood on a 78 rpm Apollo Records single in 1947; the A-side was recorded in 1945. The tune is an instrumental swing-era jazz piece that helped establish the collaboration between Thompson and Jacquet. A vocal version was recorded by Ella Fitzgerald on December 23, 1947 and released in 1949. Since then it has been widely covered by many jazz greats, including Count Basie, Erroll Garner, Oscar Peterson, Sam Donahue, and numerous others, making Robbins Nest a enduring jazz standard.
