Say It (Over and Over Again) is a 1940 pop and jazz standard written by Jimmy McHugh (music) and Frank Loesser (lyrics). It was published on March 15, 1940 and featured in the Paramount film Buck Benny Rides Again. The first recording was by Horace Heidt and His Musical Knights with vocals by Virginia Le Ahn and Henry Russell on January 18, 1940. In 1940 it became a big band and vocal standard with early releases by Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and others. Over the years it has been performed in many styles by artists from Dinah Shore to John Coltrane and Kurt Elling, appearing on numerous albums and film soundtracks rather than a single definitive album.
