Se Todos Fossem Iguais a Você, known in English as Someone to Light Up My Life, is a song composed by Antônio Carlos Jobim with original Portuguese lyrics by Vinicius de Moraes and later English lyrics by Gene Lees. It was written for the 1956 Brazilian play Orfeu da Conceição and helped establish Jobim’s intimate bossa nova sound. The tune is typically recorded as a melodic, lyrical piece with a gentle Brazilian rhythm. Notable early recordings include Elizete Cardoso's Noturno (1957) and Sylvia Telles's Caricia (1957), and it was later explored by Frank Sinatra and Jobim on Sinatra & Company (recorded 1969, released 1971). Jobim himself included the song on his albums A Certain Mr. Jobim (1967) and Terra Brasilis (1980).
