Slipped Disc is a jazz swing tune by the Benny Goodman Sextet, first recorded in 1945 during Benny Goodman’s celebrated small-group sessions. The sextet featured Red Norvo on vibes, with Teddy Wilson or Mel Powell on piano and Slam Stewart on bass; this lineup gave Goodman’s group a distinct, outgoing lead voice. The piece became one of their noted performances and a hit of that era, part of a repertoire that also included Tiger Rag, Shine, and two versions of I Got Rhythm. The track appears on the compilation Slipped Disc (1945-46), released on October 25, 1991, which collects 14 performances from 1945–46 and additional material from the following year with vibraphonist Johnny White. The collection showcases jazz with big band, swing, and sweet-band flavors, and the Slipped Disc track runs about 3 minutes.
