Só Danço Samba is a 1962 bossa nova tune composed by Antônio Carlos Jobim with Portuguese lyrics by Vinícius de Moraes and later English lyrics by Norman Gimbel. It is also known as Jazz 'n' Samba or I Only Dance Samba. The original performers were João Gilberto and Os Cariocas, first performed in August 1962 at the Au Bon Gourmet in Copacabana, in a landmark bossa nova show. The first recording was released as a single by Elza Laranjeira in October 1962. The song has since become a standard with many versions, including Stan Getz and João Gilberto on Getz/Gilberto (1964) and Jobim on The Composer of Desafinado, Plays (1963). Some writers note the tune as part of a playful attempt to invent a bossa nova dance, a story discussed by Ruy Castro.
