Solamente una vez is a bolero written by Mexican composer Agustín Lara in 1941 for José Mojica, who was preparing to retire from the stage to devote his life to God. The piece was first performed publicly by Ana María González in Buenos Aires in 1941. It was later associated with the 1942 Argentine film Melodías de América, and an English version sung by Dora Luz appeared in Disney's The Three Caballeros in 1944. The original language is Spanish, and over the years the song has been recorded by many artists in various languages, including Nat King Cole, Elvis Presley, Julio Iglesias, Andrea Bocelli, Placido Domingo, Los Panchos, and Luis Miguel. The tune is considered one of Agustín Lara’s enduring works and a landmark of the bolero genre.
