Somos novios (It's Impossible) is a romantic Bolero ballad written and performed by Mexican songwriter Armando Manzanero. It was recorded in 1968 for the album Somos novios... siempre novios and released by RCA Victor. The Spanish-language tune is considered one of the most popular Spanish songs of all time and a landmark of Latin American music. Sid Wayne translated it into English as It's Impossible, and Perry Como popularized the song in 1970 with the album It’s Impossible and a single released in November 1970; the English version was recorded on May 5, 1970 at RCA Victor’s Studio A in New York. The original runs about 2 minutes and 35 seconds, while the Como version is about 3 minutes and 12 seconds. The song has been covered by many artists, including Elvis Presley, helping it become a worldwide standard.
