Song for My Lady is a 1973 jazz album by pianist McCoy Tyner, released in February 1973 on Milestone and recorded in 1972 at Mercury Sound Studios in New York City. It was Tyner's third Milestone release and features a larger ensemble including Sonny Fortune, Calvin Hill, Alphonse Mouzon, with Charles Tolliver on flugelhorn, Michael White on violin, and Mtume on percussion on two tracks. The program includes five Tyner originals and one standard, The Night Has a Thousand Eyes, composed by Bernier and Brainin. Native Song and Essence are extended pieces that add violin, brass and congas for a near-symphonic texture. The music sits in the jazz post-bop realm and AllMusic regards Song for My Lady as one of Tyner's finest albums.
