Straight Life is a 1971 jazz album by Freddie Hubbard, released on CTI and recorded on November 16, 1970 at Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. It blends post-bop, soul jazz, jazz fusion and jazz funk, and features an all-star lineup including Joe Henderson on tenor sax, Herbie Hancock on electric piano, George Benson on guitar, Ron Carter on bass, Jack DeJohnette on drums, with Richard Landrum on percussion and Weldon Irvine on tambourine. The title track Straight Life is a 17 minutes and 30 seconds long opener, followed by Mr. Clean and Here's That Rainy Day. The album sits between Red Clay and Sing Me a Song of Songmy in Hubbard's discography and is often cited as one of his greatest recordings.
