Straight, No Chaser is a jazz tune written by Thelonious Monk. It is the title track of his 1967 Columbia studio album Straight, No Chaser, recorded in 1966-1967. The original LP features Monk on piano with Charlie Rouse, Larry Gales and Ben Riley, and the track runs about 10 minutes on Side One. The CD reissue lengthens the performance and adds extra tracks such as Japanese Folk Song (Kōjō no Tsuki) and Green Chimneys; the original LP misidentified Kōjō no Tsuki as an unknown Japanese folk song, a mistake corrected on reissues. The tune is a staple of Monk's distinctive improvisational language and the mid-1960s Columbia period, showcasing his angular phrasing and rhythm.
