Sweet Sue, Just You is a 1928 American popular song written by Victor Young (music) and Will J Harris (lyrics). The first recording was Charley Straight and His Orchestra with Frank Sylvano singing, on March 17, 1928, and it quickly became a hit in 1928 in versions by Earl Burtnett and by Ben Pollack. The tune grew into a jazz standard and is widely associated with early swing and jug bands. The title refers to actress Sue Carol, and over the years it has been recorded by many artists including Paul Whiteman, Django Reinhardt, Benny Goodman, Fats Waller, Miles Davis, Pat Boone and Jim Reeves. It has appeared in films such as Boys Town (1938) and Some Like It Hot (1959), and remains a frequently performed piece with a simple AABA structure and a memorable rhythmic figure.
