Syracuse 2 is a 2023 updated version of Henry Salvador's classic Syracuse. The original song, with lyrics by Bernard Dimey, is often considered Salvador’s best known work and was first released in 1962. The 2023 version, posted by Jean Pierre, features new vocals and mastering, added instrumental guitar and melodica chorus, strings, and a video. It keeps the original key of D-flat and uses a Roland Dyens inspired tuning for the guitar to respect that key. The lyrics paint a dream world tour through exotic places like Syracuse, Easter Island, Kairouan, the gardens of Babylon, Verona, Fuji Yama, the Land of the Morning Calm, and Paris, capturing a wistful longing to see these places that may never be visited in real life.
