The Game of Love is a 2002 single by the rock band Santana featuring Michelle Branch. It appears on Santana's 19th studio album Shaman (2002) and, in international markets, on Hotel Paper as well. The song was written by Gregg Alexander (credited as Alex Ander) and Rick Nowels, and produced by Alexander, Nowels, Carlos Santana, and Clive Davis. Lyrically it depicts the push and pull of romance, the game of love, delivered as Branch's luminous vocal over a Latin-tinged rock groove. The track was a chart hit, peaking at number five on the US Billboard Hot 100 and topping the Adult Contemporary chart, and it won the Grammy for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals. Its backstory includes several vocalists considered during production, with Tina Turner and Macy Gray considered before Branch was ultimately chosen. The music video was shot in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood and includes cameos by Wesley Snipes, Helen Hunt, and Jennifer Garner.
