The Jody Grind is a jazz tune by Horace Silver and the title track of his 1967 Blue Note album The Jody Grind. It was recorded in November 1966 at Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey and released in early March 1967. The album is a groove centered hard bop record featuring a quintet and a sextet with Horace Silver on piano, Woody Shaw on trumpet, Tyrone Washington on tenor sax, James Spaulding on alto sax and flute, Larry Ridley on bass, and Roger Humphries on drums. All tracks on the album were composed by Horace Silver. The Jody Grind peaked at No 8 on the Billboard jazz album charts and is regarded as one of Silver's most challenging groove oriented recordings.
