The Saga of Harrison Crabfeathers is a jazz standard composed by Steve Kuhn. It is a modal jazz piece first recorded and released by Monica Zetterlund in October 1972, and it later appeared on Steve Kuhn Live in New York. The tune is a waltz with three distinct tonal centers, beginning with 16 bars in E minor, moving to 16 bars in D minor, followed by an 8-bar bridge in Abmaj7#11, and concluding with 16 bars in C minor. The original version includes lyrics, and a common origin story says the title came from a Down Beat advertisement for a piano player named Crabfeathers. Notable later recordings include Sheila Jordan and Arild Andersen (1977) and Viktoria Tolstoy (2001).
