They Say It's Wonderful - a 1946 pop standard written by Irving Berlin for the Broadway musical Annie Get Your Gun. It was introduced by Ethel Merman and Ray Middleton during the 1946 Broadway run, set in the story of Annie Oakley and Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. A 1950 MGM film version features Betty Hutton and Howard Keel performing the song. The original Broadway cast recording was released by Decca in 1946. In 1946 several versions topped the charts, including Bing Crosby (No. 12), Andy Russell (No. 10), Perry Como (No. 27) and Frank Sinatra (No. 11). The tune is a show tune and pop standard with a contemplative lyric about love, and it has since been covered by many artists, making it a staple of the Great American Songbook.
