Tres palabras (Three Words) is a classic Spanish-language bolero written by Cuban composer Osvaldo Farrés. It was first released in 1943 by Orquesta Casino de la Playa with Reinaldo Henríquez on vocals, as a single credited to the orchestra. The song quickly became a Latin American standard and has been covered by many artists over the years. Farrés, who wrote more than 300 songs, often created lyrics and melodies together and did not read music. He later left Cuba in 1962 and spent the rest of his life in West New York, New Jersey. The tune remains a romantic, timeless bolero that helped cement Farrés as one of Cuba’s most widely interpreted songwriters.
