Tune Up, also known as Tune-Up, is a Miles Davis jazz standard originally written by Eddie Vinson but traditionally credited to Davis. It was first recorded on May 19, 1953 with John Lewis on piano and appeared on the Miles Davis album Blue Haze (1956, Prestige). Davis popularized the tune, and it has been recorded in Paris on later dates; the composition is a staple in the Davis lineage, with Wes Montgomery covering it on Movin' Along (1960) and Fusion! Wes Montgomery with Strings (1963). The tune is typically in D major, with modulations to C major and Bb major, and features four ii-V-I cadences, making it a valuable jam session piece and jazz standard.
