Uninvited is a 1998 alternative rock song by Canadian artist Alanis Morissette, released as the lead single from the City of Angels: Music from the Motion Picture soundtrack. Written by Morissette and co produced with Rob Cavallo, the track is built around a stark four note piano motif and moodily cryptic lyrics, running 4 minutes and 34 seconds. Although it was not issued as a physical US single, it reached number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart and topped several international charts, helping mark Morissette’s return after Jagged Little Pill. The song won two Grammys in 1999 for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance and Best Rock Song, and it received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song. It was not included on the subsequent album Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, but a demo appeared on certain regional releases, and Morissette later performed an acoustic version on MTV Unplugged.
