Very Early is a jazz piano tune written by Bill Evans. Evans composed it around his third year at Southeastern Louisiana College, making it one of his first known tunes. It was first released in 1962 by The Bill Evans Trio on a 1962 release. The piece is a lyrical, introspective Evans composition that helped establish his distinctive harmonic language within the jazz piano tradition. Since its debut, Very Early has been adapted by various artists in different languages, including Patricia Beysens in 1988, Peder Karlsson in 1989, Carol Hall in 1992, and Camille Bertault in 2018.
