It has been widely covered by artists such as Luis Miguel, Julio Iglesias, Libertad Lamarque, Los Panchos, Elisa, and Andres Calamaro, with Caetano Veloso, Concha Buika and Dulce Pontes also performing it live. The title of Pedro Almodóvar’s 2006 film Volver is inspired by this tango, and the song is featured in a scene there. Notable later versions include Richard Clayderman’s instrumental on Tango Passion (1996), Luis Miguel’s Mis Romances (2001) and Il Divo’s Amor & Pasión (2015), with Rosalía performing it on tour in 2018 and again with Juanes in 2019.
