Waltz for Ruth is a jazz instrumental written by Charlie Haden for his wife Ruth. It was first released in 1997 by Charlie Haden & Pat Metheny on the Verve Records album Beyond the Missouri Sky (Short Stories). The duo’s collaboration, which features the track, earned the Grammy for Best Jazz Instrumental Performance at the 40th Grammy Awards. The piece was composed for the album and is dedicated to Ruth, Haden's wife. A live version with Kenny Barron appeared in 1998, and an English-language adaptation titled Ruth's Waltz appeared in 1999.
