What’s Love Got to Do with It is a 1984 song written by Graham Lyle and Terry Britten, performed by Tina Turner for her fifth studio album Private Dancer. The track, a blend of pop rock and R&B, was offered to Cliff Richard and later Bucks Fizz before Turner recorded it for Private Dancer, and it was released as a Capitol single in May 1984. It became Turner’s biggest hit, reaching number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks and making her the oldest solo female to top the chart at age 44; it also topped charts in Australia and Canada and peaked at number three in the UK. The song won three Grammys in 1985 (Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance) and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2012. It has inspired covers and remixes, including a 1996 Warren G version and a 2020 Kygo remix with Tina Turner.
