Windows - a jazz composition in 3/4 time written by Chick Corea in 1966 - has become one of Corea’s earliest and best known jazz standards. Corea first recorded the piece under the title Uph during a Mercer Ellington session on January 5, 1966, later published on the compilation Duke Ellington - New Mood Indigo. The tune was also recorded for Hubert Laws' Laws' Cause (issued in 1969) and appears on several other albums, including Stan Getz's Sweet Rain (1967) and Live At Montreux 1972. Corea recorded Windows again in 1968 with Miroslav Vitouš and Roy Haynes for Circling In (1975) and Now He Sings, Now He Sobs (1988). Notable later versions appear on Like Minds (1997) and Super Trio (Live at the One World Theatre, 2005). It has been recorded by many artists such as Hubert Laws, Joe Pass, Flora Purim, Mike Stern, Bobby McFerrin and Eldar Djangirov, confirming its status as a jazz standard.
