Wonderful Tonight is a soft rock ballad by English guitarist Eric Clapton, released as a single in 1978 from his 1977 album Slowhand. Clapton wrote the song on his 1974 Martin D-28 guitar about Pattie Boyd, while waiting for her to get ready for Paul and Linda McCartney's Buddy Holly party. The female harmony vocals are provided by Marcella Levy (then known as Marcy Levy) and Yvonne Elliman. It reached number 16 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in July 1978 and was a top 40 hit in several countries. The track is 3 minutes and 45 seconds long, produced by Glyn Johns for RSO Records, with a B-side of Peaches and Diesel. Cover versions include a 1997 recording by Damage that became a UK top 3 hit.
