You Sexy Thing is a 1975 funk disco pop-soul song by the British band Hot Chocolate. It was written by lead singer Errol Brown and bass guitarist Tony Wilson, produced by Mickie Most, and released on 24 October 1975 as the second single from the album Hot Chocolate. The track blends funk, disco, R&B and British soul, with the album version at about 4:04 and the single version shorter at 3:34. It peaked at number two in the UK and number three in the US, and Billboard ranked it number 22 for 1976. The song began life as a B-side to Blue Night, but a re-recorded version was released as an A-side and became Hot Chocolate’s signature tune. Its lasting fame includes a key moment in The Full Monty (1997) where a striptease is performed to the song, a 1987 Ben Liebrand remix that reached number 10, and a note in pop history for revivals such as a 1999 Burger King commercial. It is also the only song to have entered the UK Top Ten in the 1970s, 80s, and 90s. The tune is in the key of F major.
