You Taught My Heart to Sing is a jazz standard composed by McCoy Tyner with lyrics by Sammy Cahn. It was first released in 1985 by McCoy Tyner and Jackie McLean. The tune later became the title track on the 2006 album You Taught My Heart to Sing, a collaboration between saxophonist Houston Person and pianist Bill Charlap. The album was recorded in 2004 at Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey and released on HighNote Records. It features mostly romantic standards performed in a relaxed, intimate mood without strings or heavy horn arrangements, and the title track runs 5 minutes and 23 seconds.
