"Gallop's Gallop" is an instrumental jazz piece by Thelonious Monk, written in the bebop and hard bop idiom and without lyrics. It was first recorded on October 15, 1955, at Rudy Van Gelder Studio in Hackensack, New Jersey, by the Gigi Gryce Quartet: Gigi Gryce on alto saxophone, Monk on piano, Percy Heath on bass and Art Blakey on drums. The track was issued in late 1955 on Signal Records (S 1201) on the album "Gigi Gryce". Savoy later reissued the album around 1958 as "Nica's Tempo", and the title track honours Nica de Koenigswarter, the jazz patron. The session also included three Monk compositions that had not been recorded before. Later versions have been recorded by Ben Riley's Monk Legacy Septet, Danny Grissett and Steve Cardenas.
