"I Got the Sun in the Morning" is a bright, upbeat number written by Irving Berlin, who composed both the music and the lyrics, for the musical Annie Get Your Gun, which opened on Broadway in 1946. Berlin wrote it for Ethel Merman, who sang it in the original production. The song is also known under the alternative title "I Got the Sun in the Mornin' (and the Moon at Night)".
Two hit recordings appeared in 1946: Les Brown's version with a vocal by Doris Day, which reached No. 10 on Billboard, and Artie Shaw's version with a vocal by Mel Torme, which reached No. 17. Betty Hutton sang it in the 1950 film version of Annie Get Your Gun. Later singers include Judy Garland, Dean Martin, June Christy, Doris Day and Bernadette Peters. A Swedish version, "Jag har solen och månen", with lyrics by Stig Bergendorff and Gösta Bernhard, was recorded in 1949. Carol Burnett sang it at the end of a 2013 episode of Hawaii Five-0.
