"Blues for Ike" is an instrumental piece written by the French guitarist Django Reinhardt (1910-1953). It is a blues-inspired jazz composition in the gypsy jazz idiom and has no lyrics. Reinhardt recorded it in Paris on 10 March 1953. It was first released in November 1953 on the album The Great Artistry of Django Reinhardt, issued by Clef Records on a 10-inch LP.
Later recordings by other guitarists, including Biréli Lagrène and Jimmy Rosenberg, have kept the piece in circulation among players of gypsy jazz. Its blues colouring and its place within Reinhardt's own gypsy jazz style are the main points of reference for musicians who take it up.
