Woman is a soft rock song written and performed by John Lennon, who is credited as its composer and lyricist. It appears on his 1980 album Double Fantasy, recorded with Yoko Ono in August and September 1980 and produced by Lennon, Ono and Jack Douglas. Lennon chose it as the album's second single, released in January 1981 on Geffen with Ono's "Beautiful Boys" on the B-side. It was the first Lennon single issued after his murder on 8 December 1980. The track runs 3:32. It reached number one in the United Kingdom for two weeks, displacing a re-released "Imagine", peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100, and reached number one in Canada and New Zealand. Ultimate Classic Rock rated it Lennon's greatest solo love song. A promotional film made by Ono in January 1981, with footage shot in Central Park near the Dakota, accompanied the single.
