Duke Ellington's Sound of Love is a jazz ballad by the American bassist and composer Charles Mingus (1922-1979). MusicBrainz credits Mingus as both composer and lyricist, and SecondHandSongs lists him as its sole writer and notes that the song has lyrics, with a vocal version by Mingus himself.
The original recording was made on 27 December 1974 and first released on Mingus's album Changes One (1975), a album classified on Discogs as Jazz, Post Bop. The tune has since become a standard, performed by artists including Dannie Richmond, Horace Parlan, Joe Lovano, Paolo Fresu and the Mingus Big Band. Its title links it to Duke Ellington, whose ballad tradition the piece honours.
